With an average flight time of 2h30 from Paris, the Balearic Islands are an excellent choice of destination. Between April and the end of October, it’s also possible to reach the island of Majorca by ferry from Toulon.
The Balearic archipelago comprises 4 main islands: Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca. Each of these islands has its own strengths, and today we’re going to do everything we can to help you choose one or more of them for your next vacation in Spain. If you have the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in the Balearic Islands, we can already tell you that it’s possible to combine several islands on the same trip. Vamos!
We wanted to start this article on the Balearic Islands with our favorite: Ibiza. Ibiza is all too often the victim of clichés and preconceived ideas, and it’s important to tell you right away, NO Ibiza is not an island dedicated exclusively to party people! During our discovery of Ibiza, we discovered an incredible island of lush natural beauty, where gentleness and the art of living come together to offer the perfect combination. Do you love breathtaking scenery? Do you love designer restaurants serving refined Mediterranean cuisine? Take our word for it!
During our discovery of Ibiza, we devoted an entire week to discovering the best must-see spots and addresses. These must-sees and our detailed itinerary are available on our travel blog. If you want to know what to do in Ibiza, we recommend you check it out. At the same time, you’ll be able to learn more about this exceptional Balearic island.
Have you finally decided to visit Ibiza? We’re sharing our selection of the island’s 5 best hotels below. If you’re looking for a stylish, well-placed place to stay in Ibiza, this is the selection for you. Enjoy your trip!
Wild and unspoilt, the smallest of the Balearic Islands is a magical island where you’ll feel like time has stood still. Imagine some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches in the world, small confidential coves with breathtaking sea views… Welcome to Formentera in the Balearic Islands! We discovered Formentera during our trip to Ibiza, as the two islands are just a 30-minute ferry ride apart. So, if time permits, we recommend combining these two islands on your Balearic vacation. If you’re looking for relaxation, peace and quiet, right in the heart of nature, Formentera is sure to be a big hit with you.
During our trip to Ibiza, we had planned to spend just one day in Formentera. We loved this Balearic island so much that we recommend a minimum two-night stay to get the most out of it. If you want to stay overnight in Formentera, we recommend the excellent Hotel Can Aisha.
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic islands. It is world-famous for its breathtaking coves and beaches, as well as its exceptional mountain scenery. Majorca’s coastline is dotted with magnificent beaches and coves, such as Caló des Moro and Cala Llombards. Palma’s old town is also a must-see. With its cobbled streets, historic buildings and numerous stores, bars and restaurants.
As well as being the largest of the Balearic Islands, it’s also the most populous and the one that attracts the most tourists, with over 12 million visitors a year. As you can see, even if the island is magnificent, we advise you to avoid the high season as much as possible.
Majorca is an island with a huge number of hotels, so it’s easy to get lost. During our search, we came across this hotel with infinity pool located in the heart of Palma’s old town. We recommend that you take a look – it’s guaranteed to make your heart beat faster!
We end this blog post on the Balearic Islands with Menorca, the island of tranquility. If you’re looking for a quiet, unspoilt island with nature everywhere, you’ll love Menorca. The island is so well preserved that it was even recognized as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993. If you have a two-week vacation, we recommend you do as we did, one week in Mallorca and the second in Menorca. It only takes 1h30 by ferry to cross between the two islands, so you can kill two birds with one stone! If you’re looking for what to do in Menorca for your vacation in Spain, we recommend you check out our dedicated article.
Ciuatedella is undoubtedly the most beautiful town on the island of Menorca. This is where we recommend you stay. If you haven’t yet found your hotel for your vacation in Menorca, we suggest you take a look!
The great strength of the Balearic Islands is its Mediterranean climate. This makes it possible to come and discover the archipelago all year round. Yes, it’s sunny almost all year round in the Balearics! However, we advise you to visit between May and October, avoiding July and August. That way, you can make the most of the islands. And avoid the hordes of tourists. If you can, choose spring or autumn!
