Everything you need to know what to see and do in Collioure for the day or longer! If you’re looking for good restaurant or hotel addresses in Collioure, this article should come in handy. We loved discovering this village in the South of France located close to the Spanish border not far from the Costa Brava. All that’s left is to wish you an excellent holiday in France. One thing’s for sure, you’ll fall in love with this charming village in the Pyrénées Orientales.
We really fell in love with this hotel in Collioure, the Casa Païral. Ideally located just 2 minutes’ walk from the port and town center, Casa Païral was an excellent choice during our stay. The location is truly magnificent and the breakfast delicious. If you’re coming by train, it’s a 5-minute walk to the hotel. If you’re coming by car, parking is available on request. Don’t hesitate to ask beforehand about availability. In short, if you’re looking for a good hotel address in Collioure, you can go to Casa Païral with your eyes closed.
The first thing to do if you’re wondering what to see in Collioure is to get lost in the narrow streets of the town center. The alleyways are all colorful and full of flowers, giving the town a crazy charm! We loved exploring the colorful houses and designer boutiques. The town tends to fill up quickly, so get there early if you can. Allow about an hour for the tour, including photo breaks. We suggest you then head for the port of Collioure’s royal castle.
You won’t be able to miss the royal château of Collioure on your visit, so well placed and imposing is it! If you’re looking for ideas on what to see in Collioure, a visit to the château could be a great idea. The place is very well maintained and in impeccable condition. You can explore all the rooms, including the underground passages, and enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the town from the ramparts. Allow around 2 hours and $7 for a full tour of the castle. Guided tours are also available.
If you want to swim in Collioure, there are several choices available:
A great idea for an activity to do in Collioure if you want to swim! Kayaking will enable you to navigate easily and quickly to beaches less crowded than those in the town center. Kayaking also gives you magnificent views of Collioure from the water! It’s tried and tested on our side. We rented our kayak on the jetty at club nautique.
The Collioure market takes place every Wednesday and Sunday morning from 8am to 1pm. It is located at Place du 8 mai 1945 and Place Maréchal Leclerc. The Collioure market is a very pleasant place to visit, with a wide variety of traders. A great way to discover or rediscover all the Catalan specialties of Collioure. As the Collioure market is a must-see, it attracts a lot of people, so we recommend you get there before 10am to make the most of it!
We start our selection of good restaurant addresses in Collioure with a beach restaurant, derrière le Clocher. The restaurant is very nice and we found our dishes delicious. The team is top notch, which is a real plus when you’re looking for a restaurant on vacation. If you want to eat with your feet almost in the water, this is the place for you! The establishment also offers deckchairs for hire, but we didn’t have time to test this service.
Looking for a restaurant with a great view? Head for the restaurant La Voile. We didn’t get a chance to try it out, but it came highly recommended.
If you’re looking to treat yourself, don’t miss the gastronomic restaurant La Balette by Michelin-starred chef Laurent Lemal. The restaurant’s setting is magnificent and the dishes are tasty. Count $65 excluding drinks for the 7-course “curiosity” menu.

If you just want to eat pizza on the beach, we recommend this address. The takeaway pizzas are good and the restaurant is located next to Collioure’s main beach. When we visited, it was busy, so don’t hesitate to order and take a look around while you wait for your pizza to be ready!
If you’re looking for a nice walk to do and you’ve got the time we recommend the Sentier du littoral Argelès – Collioure. Allow around 2h30 for the round trip between Argelès and Collioure. The scenery is beautiful and you’ll pass the Ouille and Racou beaches, so don’t forget your swimsuit! Hiking boots, water and sun cream are highly recommended.
During our time in Collioure we didn’t have time to climb Fort Saint-Elme, but apparently it offers a remarkable view of the whole Collioure bay. Note that the fort is closed for works throughout the 2023 and early 2024 season.
To find the best mode of transport to your destination, we recommend you always look on the OMIO comparator. This will give you an overview of all available modes of transport. You’ll be able to compare prices very easily. For this trip, we took the TGV from Paris to Perpignan. Once there, we took a ter to Collioure. The journey from Perpignan to Collioure costs $12 each way and takes 20 minutes.
If you’d like to rent a car during your trip to discover the area around Collioure, we recommend you take a look at the RentalCars website. This will enable you to find the best prices and conditions for your rental.
In order to find the best hotels in Collioure and to benefit from the best conditions (security, cancellation…) we go almost exclusively through Booking.com for our trips. We recommend that you take a look at the available hotels before you leave. You can filter them according to their ratings. There are plenty of recent customer reviews, so there are no unpleasant surprises when you’re traveling!
