We loved visiting Cordoba on our road trip through Andalusia, and today we’d like to share with you a list of our favorite spots and good addresses. We stayed in Cordoba for 2 days, which we think is the ideal length of time to discover this magnificent Andalusian city. We hope our tips and feedback will help you plan your next vacation in Cordoba, Spain;
It’s impossible to visit Cordoba without discovering the Mezquita. It’s one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe and the visit is quite impressive. If you love architecture and history, you’re in for a real treat from the moment you set foot on the site. We advise you to come early in the morning or at the end of the day to get the most out of the site. You’ll pay €13 to visit the cathedral on your own, and €27 for a guided tour.
Don’t hesitate to book your tickets in advance to visit Cordoba’s Mosque-Cathedral.
This is one of our favorite places in Cordoba. Right next to the Mezquita, the Judería district is the city’s ancient Jewish quarter. Believe us, you’ll love strolling through it! Here you’ll find beautiful narrow streets littered with shops and restaurants. Don’t miss the most beautiful street in the district, la Calleja de las Flores.
We had the opportunity to visit Cordoba’s Alcázar at the end of the day, and it’s the time of day we’d recommend. We really enjoyed our visit – we weren’t too keen on the interior, but what’s particularly worthwhile is the stroll through the gardens. A timeless walk that took our breath away! The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos fortress in Cordoba is a must-see when visiting the city. It costs €5 to visit the Alcàzar on your own, and €18 for a guided tour;
Don’t hesitate to book your tickets in advance to visit Cordoba’s Alcazar.
Close to Cordoba’s Alcazar is a Roman bridge that we recommend as an extension to your visit. The bridge is very beautiful, and we recommend you visit it at sunset. It offers a superb view of Cordoba! At the very end of the bridge is the bridge fort, which can be visited for €4.50. It was closed when we visited, but apparently the visit is well worth it.
Visiting Cordoba also means taking the time to stroll the streets of the city center. As you stroll along the city’s shopping streets, don’t miss the beautiful plaza de las Tendillas. The building facades and fountains here are particularly pretty.
If you’re still looking for ideas of things to do to visit Cordoba the right way, head for the Palais de Viana. The palace is magnificent and offers a stroll through 12 well-maintained flower-filled patios. The tour is really fun and costs €8.
Don’t hesitate to book your tickets in advance to visit Viana Palace.
We end our list of must-sees in Cordoba with the plaza de la Corredera. We found the square very beautiful and lively. You’ll find plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants. For those who have already visited Madrid, it reminded us a little of the plaza Major, only smaller of course.
