Your vacations are fast approaching and you’d like to visit Mallorca in the Balearic Islands? Discover our complete guide on our travel blog!
Only 12 km from Nice, if you’re on vacation there, you should definitely plan a half-day visit to Eze Village. Perched on its cliff, this picturesque village is quite touristy in high season, but clearly worth the detour. We found it a charming change of scenery! You’ll also have the opportunity to discover the famous Jardin Exotique d’Eze. In our article, discover the must-sees and good addresses for restaurants and hotels for your visit to Eze village!
The narrow cobbled streets of Eze village will take you on a journey back in time. The atmosphere of this medieval village in Provence is striking. Enter the town through the huge fortified gate and follow the main path. Pass under the arches of the stone houses and discover the little stores and stalls. Craftsmanship is at the very heart of Eze Village. You’ll find charming stalls selling textiles, souvenirs, local specialties, handcrafted jewelry… And small art galleries too.
The Jardin Exotique d’Eze Village is a path perched 400 meters from the sea that takes you to discover more than 100 species of exotic plants. Admiring the cacti and succulents with a view of the red stone roofs and the sea is well worth the detour. We loved this garden and really recommend a visit when you’re in Eze Village.
Considered a natural open-air garden, the Jardin Exotique also allows you to admire the 17 sculptures by artist Jean-Philippe Richard. These female stone figures even have first names. A visit to the Jardin Exotique in Eze village costs €6 per person. For us, it’s the must-visit spot when visiting Eze Village!
We loved the hues of the baroque church, built in the 18th century. It stands proudly in the middle of the village, with its majestic clock. The stones needed for its construction would have been brought here on men’s backs… Considering that the village is 400 meters above sea level, you can’t help but admire the achievement!
The famous perfume and cosmetics brand is based in Eze Village. If you wish, you can discover their perfume, soap and cosmetics factory through a guided tour. Every day from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., discover the secrets of this legendary brand. Located at the foot of the village, the factory is easy to get to, and the workshops are said to be impressive. We didn’t have time to take the tour, but on our return to Eze we’ll be stopping by!
The French Riviera is rich in discovery! We stayed in Nice and spent several days discovering this superb city. There’s so much to see in this great city! To find out more, check out our article on the must-sees in Nice. If you have the time, we also recommend that you don’t miss the town of Menton.
The village of Eze is renowned for having excellent hotels and restaurants, but not very accessible… For those looking for an exceptional meal, head to Chateau d’Eza or La Chèvre d’Or, reservations required of course.
For those of you who, like us, are looking for a nice, accessible address for lunch in the village of Eze, we recommend l’entre potes which is located right next to the Jardin Exotique. This restaurant offers cool Mediterranean and Italian cuisine and has the advantage of being open over a fairly wide range of hours.
Another, more atypical address for eating on the go is the Food Truck Food’Eze which is located on the road between Nice and the perched village of Eze. We didn’t have lunch there but stopped for a drink. the view is simply spectacular over the suspended village!
If you’d like to try out a hotel with an exceptional view in Eze village, Les Terrasses d’Eze is the hotel for you. Located right next to the village, this Hotel & Spa is renowned for its quality of service and its incredible setting. It’s also very close to the “tête de chien de la Turbie”, where you can admire the view over Monaco.
When you come to Eze by car, you’ll notice that there are very few parking spaces! We chose to park at the parking lot, which is a little way from the village and offers very regular shuttle buses. So we parked without a hitch and reached the village of Eze in 5 minutes by shuttle bus. The cost of parking at the parking lot is €6, which includes the return shuttle service and free entry to the Jardin Exotique d’Eze (which costs €6 per person). A great deal if you’re planning to visit the Jardin Exotique! Like us, you may even be lucky enough to have your driver give you a brief summary of the village’s history 😉
