This medieval town, also known as Cattaro, is one of the best known and prettiest! For us it’s a must-see on a road trip to Montenegro. Although quite touristy, the fortified town, listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, is well worth a visit for its narrow cobbled streets, warm squares and lovely views of the surrounding cliffs. And if you’re a cat lover… You’ll be in heaven! This city is nicknamed the city of cats for a good reason: they’re everywhere! Let yourself be carried away by the narrow streets and lose yourself in the labyrinth that is the city of Kotor, with many beautiful discoveries awaiting you.
This pretty little waterside town is well worth a visit for its authenticity and views of the two islands with buildings dating from the 15th century. Opposite it: Notre Dame du Rocher island with its Notre Dame des Rochers church and Saint-Georges island. We chose to take a boat trip to discover these two islets and enjoy views of Perast from the water. In our opinion, half a day is enough to stroll around Perast on foot; it’s quite small, but worth the detour all the same!
Take the famous serpentine road through the heights of Kotor, which takes you around more than 30 tight bends. A driving experience… 😂 Once at the top, you’ll have a superb view of the Bay of Kotor!
On your trip to the Bay of Kotor, you have several options for where to stay: take a hotel in downtown Kotor or take a hotel outside the city. We suggest two alternatives to suit your preferences!
If you choose one of the apartments here, you’ll be able to do everything on foot. So you can enjoy a beautiful evening in Kotor, which is what we did and we loved it! The place is air-conditioned, which is very comfortable in Montenegro’s hot summer weather. The apartments are designer and modern, so you’re sure to fall in love!
This hotel is 1km from Kotor’s old town and 100 meters from the beach, which is perfect for enjoying some peace and quiet during your Kotor vacation. The apartments all have balconies or terraces. On top of that, the hotel has a superb swimming pool with an incredible view over the Bay of Kotor.
Nous espérons que notre blog voyage vous aidera à organiser votre passage dans la Baie de Kotor dans le Monténégro !
