We’re staying in France to start this selection and help you answer the question of where to travel in April in the sun. This region is very pleasant at this time of year, and for good reason! You’ll enjoy plenty of sunshine without having to contend with the hordes of tourists who come to discover the South of France during the summer vacations. This is one of the reasons why we love discovering this region at this time of year. As mentioned in our introduction, the same applies to May and June. Between the south-west and the south-east, you’ll have plenty to choose from, and no chance of getting bored. 2. Where to travel in April in the sun? Head for Corsica
Like the south of France, Corsica is undoubtedly one of the French regions to discover at this time of year. You’ll enjoy the sunshine and the freedom to discover the Isle of Beauty without too many tourists, which can be detrimental to the destination during the summer months. As with the south, Corsica is full of sumptuous spots, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. One thing’s for sure: our country has plenty of nuggets to discover. We don’t know Corsica very well yet, so we can only recommend Calvi, a town we enjoyed discovering during the Calvi and the Rocks Festival.
3. The Algarve in Portugal
Where to travel in April in the sun? Why not head for the south of Portugal? This region is just sublime and a real pleasure to discover at this time of year. During our last visit to the Algarve, we fell in love with the Portuguese culture, sumptuous landscapes and great food. For us, it’s one of the most beautiful places in Europe, with breathtaking beaches. As with all our top destinations, it’s also the best time to discover this European nugget without too many tourists. 4. Lisbon
We’re staying in Portugal for a while longer with a city we adore just as much, Lisbon. The Portuguese capital is a beautiful and generous city that offers a multitude of possibilities. If you like cities that are good places to live, you’ll love Lisbon, and you can take our word for it. While you’re here, and if you have the time, we recommend taking the train or your car to discover Porto and Aveiro. These two Portuguese cities are also well worth a visit, and combine very well for a ten-day vacation. If you’re looking for a place to go in the sun in April, Portugal is sure to please!

5. Where to travel in April in the sun? Head for the Balearic Islands, with Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca
If there’s one destination we’ve loved discovering in April this year, it’s the island of Ibiza. If you only knew Ibiza for its party image, think again! This destination boasts an exceptional wealth of natural beauty. There’s so much to do on the island, there are so many incredible spots to discover. We’ve also heard great things about the neighboring islands of Mallorca and Menorca, which we’ll be visiting in 2023. 6. Where to travel in April in the sun? Heading for Valencia in Spain
Lovers of architecture and history, this Spanish destination is made for you. Discover Valencia in Spain, a city bathed in sunshine almost all year round. With its city center, futuristic City of Arts and Sciences and Xativa Castle, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. Want even more? Head for one of our favorite spots in Spain, the Muralla Roja in Calp. Located just 1 hour’s drive from Valencia, this Ricardo Bofill-designed building was one of our finest architectural finds in Europe. We stayed in this colorful building for a week and felt out of time. It’s an experience we highly recommend.

7. Puglia, Italy
It’s hard not to mention Italy in this blog post about where to travel in April in the sun! Today we invite you to discover one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, Puglia. If you like the combination of typical villages and magnificent coves with turquoise waters, you’re in the right place! For those who also like to indulge in local gastronomy, Italy is perfect. One thing’s for sure, you won’t get bored in Puglia!

8. Marrakech
When we think of sun destinations not far from home, Marrakech quickly comes to mind. April is the ideal month to discover the city of Marrakech. Discover Morocco’s magnificent landscapes, medina and spectacular riads. Make yourself a cup of mint tea and take the time to discover this destination that is often a favorite with travelers!

9. The Ionian Islands, with Zakynthos and Kefalonia
Crucial passage through Greece and two islands we’re particularly fond of, Zakynthos aka Zante and Kefalonia aka Kefalonia. These two Greek islands located in the Ionian Sea were a real coup de coeur for us. Less well known than the Cyclades, these two islands have a wealth of attractions, which we list in our full guide below.

10. The Cyclades, with Mykonos and Santorini
We end this selection of destinations to discover where to travel in April in the sun with the famous Cyclades islands of Mykonos and Santorini. We think there’s no better time of year to discover them than out of season. If you want to go on vacation in a postcard setting and experience the most beautiful sunsets of your life, discovering Mykonos and Santorini could be an excellent idea.
