After sharing some destination ideas on our travel blog to find out where to go in May we’re back this time with a selection of ideal destinations to discover in June. This is the time of year when the sun is out in France and Europe in general. Tourists are still few and far between compared with July and August, so it’s a great time to go on vacation and make the most of it!
This selection of ideas is designed to help you decide where to go for your June vacation in the sun, but it will work just as well for September, which enjoys the same advantages as June (mild weather and more affordable prices). This selection is based on our feedback and is, of course, totally subjective. In fact, don’t hesitate to share your favorite June destinations with us in the comments to this article. As mentioned in our introduction, June is one of our favorite months to discover Europe, and France in particular! The weather’s fine, the trees are in bloom, and there aren’t too many people on the road yet. Take the opportunity to discover regions that are often crowded in July and August, such as the South of France with Nice, Eze, Menton and the famous Gorges du Verdon. The islands of Porquerolles are also well worth a visit! Still in the south, you can also take a stroll through the lavender fields of the Drome Provençale. June is also a good time to discover Corsica and Brittany, with the Crozon peninsula, for example. Greece and one of our favorite countries in Europe! We love setting off to discover the Greek islands and June is, in our opinion, the best time along with September to discover this destination. Favour the Ionian islands like Zakynthos and Kefalonia if you really want to be at peace. The Cyclades are more touristy, but if you absolutely must visit, we recommend the islands of Santorini, Mykonos and Milos. For Santorini, we recommend sleeping in the heart of Oia. Plan to take a hotel in Santorini with private pool and get up early to take full advantage of this Greek postcard.
Where to go on vacation in June? How about heading for Portugal? In June, Portugal boasts average temperatures of 26°, and if you’re looking for a sunny destination not too far from home, Portugal will be a great choice. There are several possibilities to choose from, with the Algarve in the south of the country between Faro, Albufeira and Sagres, and larger cities further north such as Lisbon, Aveiro and Porto. You can also plan to visit the lands of Portugal with a vacation in the Alentejo region. In short, if you’re looking for a great destination to fill up on sunshine and positive energy, choose Portugal with your eyes closed!
It’s impossible not to talk about Spain after talking about Portugal! If you’re looking for where to go in June in the sun, and Portugal is a little too far for you, you still have the option of opting for Spain. This country is a real goldmine for vacations, and there’s something for everyone! June is one of the best months of the year to go on vacation in Spain. The weather is sunny, but not too hot as in summer, allowing you to take full advantage of all the outdoor activities the country has to offer. Imagine relaxing on the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava, strolling through the charming cobbled streets of Seville, admiring the breathtaking architecture of Barcelona or enjoying tapas on the terrace.

It’s famous for its sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, as well as for its varied landscapes and unspoilt nature. June is an ideal month for swimming in Sardinia, with an average temperature of 28°. If you want to discover Sardinia without the tourist crowds, June is an excellent time to do so. It’s a unique opportunity to discover this magnificent island in a tranquil atmosphere, before the height of the summer season.
Discovering New York in June is a great idea for several reasons. First of all, June is considered one of the best months to visit New York because of its pleasant climate. Temperatures are mild and warm, averaging 25°, making it an ideal time to explore the city. It’s neither too hot nor too cold. It’s a real pleasure to walk around this iconic American city!
June is also the month of the Governors Ball Music Festival, one of New York’s biggest outdoor music festivals.
